I truly found a lot of joy in this course, remembering some really great travel and talking about Philadelphia in my HOME piece allowed me to reflect on my roots and my grandmother who recently passed away. The website was/is tricky, but it has allowed me to get out of my comfort zone and experience a new way to communicate my adventures. While I have not traveled abroad yet, the places I have traveled shared in this course was still seen as important from the Professors and that made a huge difference. The weekly videos gave me the opportunity to really dig into the materials and understand the angle. There were times when I thought I was completely lost, but then the instructions in the video gave me what I needed to manage the assignments.
I really enjoyed the Alison Silibosky and her experiences with creating content, I never really considered myself a “social media” content creator or influencer, but Allison showed me its possible if I wanted to consider that as a career. Not to mention the Weinermobile as a job was fantastic! The most challenging for me was the balancing of time management with critical thinking. To this work you have to engage deeply in the coursework and bring information together in a way that makes sense. It was not just about memorizing material for a test, the work around drafting a revision while also balancing new thoughts, critiques, and reorganization of your writing.
I would say to myself at the start of the semester to pace myself, the workload was significant and the stress of ensuring I met the weekly tasks was stressful. I had a really large load this semester and I underestimated at times the discipline that would be needed to meet all my coursework requirements. Learning to not only get feedback but incorporate into my work was new and required fast adjustment and adaptation. By the middle I had my stride, and the strategies learned in this class have prepared me on a very deep level to ensure I am reviewing and providing really good work. I wouldn’t change a thing!
